Odd time signatures are used in various musical styles. Many guitarists meet these signatures for the first time listening progressive rock songs or progressive metal songs.

When you hear a song that uses odd-time signatures, it's a good exercise to try to find the right time signature. For the 11/8 you can count the eighth notes, you can also count the quarter notes and add a eighth note.
